Hokusai Katsushika is known for one of the greatest "Ukiyo-e" (woodblock painting) artists in Edo period. His masterpiece is the famous collection of "The 36 Views of Mount Fuji".
This famous Ukiyo-e is a piece from "The 36 Views of Mount Fuji". This place takes place in open sea in Kanagawa. Giant waves dynamicly hitting the boats. Looking carefully into the waves, you can notice that each wave is like hands going to grab and pull the boats under the sea. In the very back of the scene, Mount Fuji is quietly and solemnly looking at the sea.
