Autumn in Mount Takao
Posted on November 22nd, 2009 No commentsCherry blossoms in the spring is the best season to visit Japan, but I would say autumn is another great season you can fully enjoy in Japan. Leaves in the trees changes its color from green to yellow and red, which is so beautiful that any painter can not copy in their paintings.
Just an hour ride on a train from Tokyo, Mt. Takao is the best place you can visit to enjoy this natural painting. Mt. Takao marked 3 stars in the Michelin guide, one of the world’s famous tour guide book. And yes, 3 stars is well deserved.
When you imagine Tokyo, what color do you see? I believe most of the people will not say green. Mt. Takao will break that! Full of nature, gourmet and shrines. This place preserves ancient Japan, not filled with skyscrapers like now a days…

Typhoon Hits Mainland Japan
Posted on October 8th, 2009 No commentsEarly today, Typhoon Melor (18th typhoon this year) landed mainland Japan and according to the forecast, this typhoon will trace the mainland of Japan having strong wind and rain. Last time when large typhoon hit mainland Japan, it was two years ago. I do remember that transportation system stopped and water flooded on the street at many places in Tokyo.
Same as last time, today many trains stopped by this typhoon and people on the way to the office stuck in the train stations. Well, I decided to work at home
There is no reason to go outside when typhoon is raging.

Gundam Stands in Odaiba
Posted on June 22nd, 2009 No comments“Mobile Suits Gundam” is the most famous giant robot featured animation in Japan. For about 30 years, this animation is respected from fans. I also like Gundam too, and I heard from my friend that 1:1 scale Gundam RX-78 now stands in Odaiba, Tokyo. Woo! I must go and see it!
Look at this realistic and detailed form! It was so cool. I wanna request building Char’s Zaku standing right next to this Gundam.
Dear all Gundam fans, this is worth seeing. Ahead to Odaiba now!

Swine Flu and Masks
Posted on May 24th, 2009 No commentsForeign people who visited Japan mostly surprises that a lot of Japanese people wear masks. Especially in spring (from February to April), Japanese people suffering from pollen allergy wear masks, but recently pandemic swine flu made Japanese rush to the drug store. It is common to the experts of virus disease, that wearing masks will not drastically prevent infection. However, Japanese do like wearing masks. One reason is that mass media like television and newspapers incite people to wear masks, and another reason is that old age people have strong belief in masks. Wearing mask was one of the preventive way introduced in early 20th century when Spanish flu prevalent globally. Although, wearing masks is slightly better than not wearing masks. But what we really need is to have better understanding to swine flu. Washing hand and gargle carefully will also make change.
In my point of view, it is little sad that I can’t see beautiful women smiling wearing masks. lol

Motorcycle Life in Tokyo
Posted on May 1st, 2009 No commentsLast month, I bought a motorcycle. 8 years ago, I owned a motorcycle but I sold it to my friend, so it will be a long time after that.
A very memorable event happened 7 years ago was that when Susumu visited Tokyo for recruitment, me and Susumu tandem seated on my motorcycle and went to Odaiba in the night. Riding on the highway speeding, and beautiful illumination of the Rainbow Bridge is good memory of my young days. I wished that I want to do this with girl friend
In Tokyo, there are many cars but less parking. When going out for driving, it will make you sick finding the parking lot. So motorcycles will be a good way to go out in Tokyo. Only problem is that motorcycles do not like rainy day, ha ha ha.

2016 Olympic Games to Tokyo
Posted on April 23rd, 2009 2 commentsTokyo is one of the candidate city for the 2016 Summer Olympic Games. Back in the year 2000, Osaka was the candidate city for 2008 Summer Olympic Games, however as you know, Beijing won. Osaka is my birth place, so I was really dreaming that the Olympic Games being hold in Osaka.
Few day ago, IOC members visited Tokyo to evaluate the plan of Tokyo for Olympic Games. There is big difference between Osaka and Tokyo’s invitation activities. What is it? It is involvement of Japan government. Government was not supportive when Osaka planned to invite Olympic Games. I don’t know the reason, but it was somehow mortifying to me.
Now I work in Tokyo, I hope Tokyo to win the bid

Tea Incense Burner (Cha Kouro)
Posted on March 16th, 2009 No commentsHave you heard of an item called Tea Incense Burner (Cha Kouro)?
Yesterday, I went to Odaiba. Odaiba is located in bay area of Tokyo, which is famous for dating spot. Ah, don’t ask whether I went there for dating. Odaiba is also a good place for shopping where there are many shops and good to find out cool stuffs.
In one of the shop in Odaiba, I found a good tea incense burner (in Japanese it is called “Cha Kouro”). I knew that there is such thing, but I’ve never tried it. So I purchased one for my home to have a try. Burner is very simple, it has a little tray to put the tea on and a little space underneath the tray to put a candle. The way it works is same as aroma oil burner, but the tray is little more larger and shallow.
