2016 Olympic Games to Tokyo
Posted on April 23rd, 2009 2 commentsTokyo is one of the candidate city for the 2016 Summer Olympic Games. Back in the year 2000, Osaka was the candidate city for 2008 Summer Olympic Games, however as you know, Beijing won. Osaka is my birth place, so I was really dreaming that the Olympic Games being hold in Osaka.
Few day ago, IOC members visited Tokyo to evaluate the plan of Tokyo for Olympic Games. There is big difference between Osaka and Tokyo’s invitation activities. What is it? It is involvement of Japan government. Government was not supportive when Osaka planned to invite Olympic Games. I don’t know the reason, but it was somehow mortifying to me.
Now I work in Tokyo, I hope Tokyo to win the bid

Cool Samurai Helmet
Posted on April 21st, 2009 No commentsNow, Naoe Kanetsugu who was a Japanese samurai has grown in popularity in Japan. Because this year’s hero of the historical drama which every year NHK(Japanese state channel) broadcasts for a year, is Naoe Kanetsugu.
Despite Naoe Kanetsugu was a just warrior serving Uesugi Kenshin and Uesugi Kagekatsu, he is so popular that his drama was made. It’s true that he was so faithful samurai warrior Japanese likes and there are some interesting anecdotes about him. But,what makes him so popular?
I think one of the best reasons is that his samurai helmet is pretty gorgeous.

Tea Keep You Awake
Posted on April 18th, 2009 No commentsTea contains caffeine.
Since caffeine has a stimulant effect to get the brain to fire more efficiently, caffeine is useful for keeping awake. As naming of caffeine came from coffee,
coffee is best known as caffeinated drink. But actually red tea has caffeine much than coffee.Japanese green tea contains caffeine too. Sencha has about one-half of the caffeine contained in coffee. Gyokuro has about 4 times of the caffeine contained in coffee! Unlike in coffee, the caffeine in Japanese green tea act gently as the stimulant. Because theanine contained in Japanese green tea inhibit the stimulant action of the caffeine. Therefore, it may be said that Japanese green tea has a optimum stimulant effect.
If you drink a cup of Japanese green tea every morning, you have a lot of energy.

Japanese Tea for Next Generation Espresso
Posted on April 14th, 2009 No commentsWeb 2.0 zillionaires choice Japanese tea and no more espresso. According to the article in wired.com, these zillionaires are fond of drinking tea and in Silicon Valley, tea is pushing out the place for coffee.
Big wave is really coming, but will tea market grow and replace Starbucks? It may take time, but I hope so. But I also love espresso, so I don’t want tea to totally replace espresso

The Tea Harvest Seasons of Uji
Posted on April 13th, 2009 No commentsLike Toku said, the first harvest season of Japanese tea is beginning. The tea plant is very vigorous. If you pick tea leaves off the tea plant, the new sprout appears in the plant soon after picking. So tea is picked about three-four times a year in Japan.
The first season is from early-April to late-May.The tea harvested this season is called Ichiban-Cha or Shincha(first picked tea) and tastes even better than other harvest seasons.Because it contains a lot of nourishment saved from autumn(last harvest season) to spring in tea plant. Ichiban-Cha is rich in taste and flavor.
The second harvest season is from mid-June to late-July and the third harvest season is from early-August to early September. The tea quality is getting worse as fall approaches.Sweetness and taste decreases , and bitterness and astringency increase.
In Uji, tea is picked only two times a year.Uji tea made of only first picked tea and second picked tea.So the annual harvest of tea in Uji(Kyoto) is only 3% of Japan’s total harvest but Uji tea has a lot of confidence in the taste.

Posted on April 7th, 2009 No commentsIn Japan, the sakura (the cherry blossoms) are now in full bloom. One of the pleasures of life among the Japanese is sakura viewing. Sakura viewing is holding a sake drinking party beneath a grove of cherry trees in full bloom.
Still,I often wonder why Japanese loves sakura so much.Name a girl
Name a song
This is too love? But,I really love sakura. I have already been to Sakura viewing twice this spring. To love sakura is Japanese instinct!
